The OTC Trade Calculator will allow you to evaluate a trade based on the Fitzgerald-Spielberger point system that was developed in The Drafting Stage. To use the calculator, select the two teams that might be involved in a trade and allow the menu to load their draft selections as well as their current roster. When you select a draft pick it will show you how many points a team is giving up in a trade as well as what the projected value of that trade would be in terms of expected contract value. You also have the option of selecting a position when you make a trade. When you select a position the expected APY will adjust for the position. This can help illustrate if a trade is warranted based on the premium of the position (i.e. an edge rusher is much more valuable than a running back). This can also allow you to better evaluate a trade if you include an active player since that player has a stated contract value even though he would not have any point associated with his inclusion in the trade. Future picks are discounted only to the end of the round that the pick is in, since that reflects the worst possible value a team can receive for the selection. The F-S evaluation box will then let you see the “winner” of the trade based on the expected contract values as well as giving you the difference in points. The pick value gained in a trade is simply what the difference in point values between the two teams would equate to as a draft pick which would be required to balance the trade out.
